About

I grew up in Orange County, California, where we had moved when I was 3 years old. In school I had always excelled at math and by the time I was a senior in high school I had already taken all the possible math classes so they allowed me to attend Santa Ana College to take a FORTRAN computer programming class. I did well in the class, and it was interesting, but I really wasn’t looking to become a programmer. I went on to college, attending Cal State University at Fullerton, where I had a straight “A” average in my major, Philosophy. And then I transferred to the University of California at Santa Barbara. We had visited Santa Barbara every year on vacation when I was growing up and I liked it.  After UCSB I did some traveling and then returned to Santa Barbara and soon thereafter became a California Licensed Painting and Decorating Contractor.

Then in the mid ‘90’s, with the introduction of the World Wide Web, I again became interested in computers. I started taking every computer class that was offered at Santa Barbara City College Continuing Education and ended up taking over 40 courses over the next 1 ½ years. And I was really into it and spent thousands of hours on my own teaching myself about the world of computers. I was especially interested in web design and development and graphic design, and I intended to start a business along these lines. At that time I was attending the COMDEX show, the world’s largest computer expo, in Las Vegas every year, talking to all the reps, and also the Spring Internet World convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center. But by that time I was also starting to get involved in the financial markets and I ended up putting my web design and development and graphic design business on hold and worked full time in the markets for the next 5-6 years often working 15 hour days.

Then a few years ago I started gravitating back to web design and development and graphic design, and I’m involved again today. I also was a Power Seller on eBay for several years and sold mainly Microsoft Office software. I’m currently a Multimedia Arts and Technology major at Santa Barbara City College with a 3.9 GPA, and am also continuing to study and expand my knowledge of Graphic Design and Photography. In September of 2008, at the invitation of the new President of Santa Barbara City College, Dr. Andreea Serban, I was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
